Categorized view

The categorized view groups documents by folder, allowing you to quickly keep track of everything when working with documents from multiple folders at the same time. Each folder group displays its own columns based on the configured metadata template.

1. Switch View

The categorized view is available in:

  • Document Sets

  • Smart views

  • Collection Folder

  • Shared links with documents from multiple folders

By default, the categorized view is displayed. Would you prefer a flat list? Use the toggle to switch between Categorized View and Flat View.

2. How does the categorized view work?

Documents are grouped by folder. Each folder group has its own table header.

  • Folder with a metadata template—the columns are determined by the metadata template set for that folder. Metadata values are displayed in the corresponding columns.

  • Folder without a metadata template — the standard document columns are displayed.

💡 Tip: Do different folders have different metadata templates? If so, each folder group displays its own columns. Metadata columns from one folder are not applied to another folder.
